As the client strengthened advanced technologies at its Osaka base, it was hiring engineers with interest and aptitude in AI. The role required AI learning background, Japanese communication skills, and understanding/motivation for new fields like AI, IoT, and XR, making candidate sourcing difficult. In addition, because hiring was in Kansai and budget was limited, simply gathering many highly skilled candidates did not lead to hires. What the company truly needed was not impressive titles or keywords, but people who could understand requirements, communicate, and implement in Japanese business settings. The challenge was not just building a pipeline, but finding globally sourced AI talent who could perform in real work.

Instead of volume-based agency hiring, we provided boutique recruitment focused on precise matching. From the role requirements, we defined the ideal “ready-to-perform” profile: AI learning background, development fundamentals, Japanese proficiency, and fit for Kansai-area company culture and work style. Using our global talent network, we targeted candidates with AI engineering experience in India and exposure to projects for Japanese companies. The featured candidate had hands-on experience in Generative AI, LLM, RAG, and workflow automation, and had led projects for Japanese clients end-to-end, from PoC design to implementation and operations. They also supported translation and technical communication for Japanese customers, showing both technical strength and collaboration adaptability. Phinx evaluated beyond resume keywords—considering Japanese project experience, communication stability, and career direction—and successfully delivered an offer-ready candidate with strong technical skills, Japanese capability, and business adaptability.
